Buy Boutique French Champagne Online! Nothing trumps experience and first-hand knowledge of a product – and Inke Gouws knows Champagne intimately, having worked at both Moët et Chandon and Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, the two most significant Champagne producers in the world.
This qualifies her uniquely to represent and sell a selection of small, top quality Champagnes that she has personally sought out and imported from France.
“My personal belief is that it is necessary to know the top growers and producers in order to fully understand and appreciate the quality that handcrafted Champagne offers,” Inke says.

Inke is rooted in wine. Her entire family is involved in the wine business: her winemaker father is Ernst of Ernst of Ernst and Co. wines while mother Gwenda handles the marketing and sales for the company. Her sister Ezanne is also a trained winemaker and assists with marketing and distribution when not busy in the cellar – while her younger brother Ernst junior is currently studying winemaking!
Although she obtained a BA in language and cultural studies from the University of Stellenbosch, majoring in French and German, Inke supplemented that with a diploma from the Cape Wine Academy as well as a Masters degree in international wine knowledge and commerce from the CFPPA College obtained during a year spent in Beaune, Burgundy.
In South Africa she has worked for Wines of South Africa, Rust en Vrede, DGB and handled promotions and marketing for WINE magazine.
"I love the French culture having had the privilege of both working and living there for some time now. The six months I spent at Moët et Chandon was amazing! To be part of a world-class organisation, which holds stocks of 100 million bottles of Champagne in 28km of limestone tunnels, is truly something special. I wouldn't trade the experience and knowledge gained at Moët and Veuve for anything in the world."
"I genuinely want to teach South African wine consumers the finer nuances of Champagne, that these smaller producers have so much passion for what they produce. I’m really looking forward to my career as a Champagne Négoçiante."
Inke Gouws recently won the Financial Mail Wine Business Award for Young Achiever of the Year. |
